In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing their enemies more than Wrath, the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood... The only purebred vampire left on the planet, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But when one of his most trusted fighters is killed - orphaning a half-breed daughter unaware of her heritage or her fate - Wrath must usher the beautiful female into the world of the undead...
Racked by a restlessness in her body that wasn't there, Beth Randall is helpless against the dangerously sexy man who comes at night with shadows in his eyes. His tales of brotherhood and blood frighten her. But his touch ignites a dawning hunger that threatens to consume them both....
I have heard so much about the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series and how good it is, but I kept holding it off and off because I don't know if I was ready for a series where each book focuses on one couple. I had tried this book later on and I can honestly say I do not know why this series is so popular. I don't get it, because I was very bored almost throughout the whole book.
I don't think that the writing is that good either. I didn't really care for the characters that much. And the lesser parts I had to skip over because I didn't understand what was going on. I mean it took almost more than half of the book for me to be interested in Beth and Wrath. I think they are great together, but I felt like so much more was going on that I didn't really get to appreciate Wrath and Beth. I wish that Ward would've just focused on Beth and Wrath.
But I thought the parts with Beth and Wrath were lovely. I was really more interested in the mating between these two characters. I love women like Beth. I was basically lost throughout the book. This is only the first book and there are eight other books. And this book could just have a case of first book syndrome. I heard that book 3, Lover Awakened is the best one, so I will continue with the series and see if I like the next couple of books.
awwww Im so sad you didnt enjoy this one =/ Its one of my favorite series ever! it really does gets better and better! =D
ReplyDeleteI read Lover Awakened and I really enjoyed it. It's one of my favorite self contained books. I've never read the others and I've been wondering if I should, since like you I've heard that book 3 is the best.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog.
