What do you do besides reading/reviewing as a hobby?
Oh. That's a hard one. I don't do much except reading and blogging. haha. Let's see. I am a graphic designer and I really like making illustrations in my free time. It is benefcial to the field I am going into and it is really fun. I also love japanese animation so I am really into anime and manga. But I am quite busy these days with my part-time job + school +reading/blogging, so I don't have a lot of free time. I spend most of my time on my labtop chatting on facebook.
I'm also taking part in the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy For Books so head on over to join in the fun!
What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you not enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?
That is a hard question for me. I have books that are quite popular where I did not like them but I haven't posted a full review for them yet for I am just starting out and I have only been blogging for about 1 month now, but I do need to get around to them. I have rated only a few book with 1 star and they were all books that I really wanted to like but just couldn't get into them. We all have different tastes in books, so not every book is for us. I would say the most popular book that I did not really like all that well was Wings by Aprilynne Pike, which a lot of people loved so I assumed I would have liked also but that was not the case proving that every book is not for you.
For Wings by Aprilynne Pike I didn't really like the concept of how the faeries were, I found it weird and more than halfway through I thought that maybe this is not in my age range I thought someone more younger would enjoy it more than me, but I like that she had a different take on faeries. I like the dark aspect of faeries that I read about a bit more. But whenever I read a book and I don't like I so very much wish that I could of got into and enjoyed it.
Graphic designer eh... wanna fix up my blog? it could definitely use it!
ReplyDeleteI have heard good things about Wings but I'm still a little skeptical, it seems like so much YA these days is just rushed to print without enough editing.

Reviews should remain honest regardless of what is written and how it sounds like and this just shows that loving or liking a book really depends on a person preference and type. that's why we have a wider range of genres and authors to choose from.

Happy HOP! I started reading Wings a few months ago and stopped because it didn't quite captured my attention. For me, the books I struggled with were The Hollow and the Bree Tanner novella. I still cringe!
