Anya Gage has learned that to get anything good in life, you have to work for it. She has no expectations, no dreams.
Then she finds herself at a party where she doesn’t want to be and she meets Knight.
Knight Sebring knows who he is, what he wants and what he likes. And he gets it. But he never expected something as sweet as Anya Gage to wander into his bedroom during a party he did not expect to be having to borrow his phone.
Knight tries to leave Anya to the life she deserves of white picket fences and a man who watches football on Sundays – good, normal and clean. But when Anya comes to his nightclub and finds herself in a situation, he knows someone has to look after her, he can’t fight it anymore and he decides that man will be him.
Knight teaches Anya that, just as with the bad, in life you should also expect the good. And he teaches her this by giving it to her.
But Knight has a dark past and just as he desires Anya for exactly who she is, he fears when she finds out exactly the man he has become and always intends to be, she’ll leave him for good, normal and clean.
You know, I'd thought I'd like it. I was prepared to. And I was really liking KNIGHT. But big problems arouse. Big problems, even before the whole daddy stuff. I was liking KNIGHT up to about half of the book and then his true color surfaced. I love my big and bad boy alpha males who have control and possession issues, but this was way over the top in the control area.
Even before Anya even had any say in the matter he decides she is his woman. And he stops her from having any control over her life whatsoever. She cannot tell him no, or he will punish her, If she refuses a direct order, his men will come and lock her in his office and she has to explain herself. She has to obey him in everything. Anya is basically his fucking slave.
And Anya is no better, just because the guy is drop dead gorgeous, and is sweet a lot of the time, doesn't mean the other stuff IS NOT A PROBLEM. It is. I like my heroine's to at least have a little self-respect and she has none. All she sees in a hot guy he is nice and sweet, so the other scary and control stuff is okay, right? Dear, god. What the hell is wrong with you, woman? This is the 21st Century and men do not tell women what to do , how to dress, when you can have a drink, if you can dance and how to behave. That is just fucking ridiculous. If they think they can, get the fuck outta my life.
I know all Kristen Ashley's books don't do it for me, but this is the one that brought out the inner angry madwoman. I may check out the other Unfinished Hero books. I just had a problem with the major control in KNIGHT.
I completely agree, although I did finish this book…not sure how. Lol. This is THEE only Kristen Ashley book I’ve read and I did not like it all. Gave it a 2 star rating.
ReplyDeleteHaha! yea. I have had some KA books I didn’t really like, that were just boring and dragged on that I lost interest and couldn’t finish, but this one I probably could have finished but it pissed me off too much that I couldn’t. Every page I read just made me madder, so yea, I’m thinking not.
ReplyDeleteSorry you didn’t enjoy this one Mariya. This isn’t my fave KA book but I still enjoyed it. I think you’ll like CREED a lot better. The backstory between the hero and heroine is really good. Hopefully, you’ll this that one a try. RAID was really good too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation, Debbie. I did check out a few reviews and the description for them and those ones do seem more my tastes. I hope I end up liking those ones better.
ReplyDeleteugh
ReplyDeleteI would have stopped reading, too, Mariya. I don’t mind a little alpha, but ordering a woman around, locking her up in his office – that just shows no respect nor love :(
I hope your next read will be awesome :)
Sounds like a Gregorian slave they have no say whatsoever. Yeah doesn’t do it for me. I’m sure there are people out there that love these books. No madam I’m good. It’s just like I didn’t like the anne rice books I just know I wouldn’t like this one. Thanks for taking the hit so we don’t have to
