Follow Me Friday and Book Blogger Hop (1)

Friday Follow is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee. Head over there to join in on the fun, and meet some new blogger friends.

This week's question: What is your usual monthly book budget?
I try tell myself only no more than $20, but sometimes when I am in the bookstore and see something I just can't help myself. I know a couple of months ago I think I spent like $50-75 on books but I am trying to control myself. I would say I am down to no more than $20 monthly on books right now and have a goal to keep it that way.

I'm also taking part in the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy For Books so head on over to join in the fun!

"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"
I admit I am tempted. I have had times where like I find a series and book 3 or 4 had a awesome cover and the description sounded amazing, but I just can't start a series out of order like that, I have to go find book 1 and start from there. I know I was tempted with the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead. I found book 4, Blood Promise and it looked amazing, so I has to check out and go find a copy of book 1 and I loved it!

  1. new follower!

I am loving your taste in books.. except I am not a big fan of the Vampire Academy series.. I jumped off the bandwagon after a few books :(

But, anyways - I can't read series out of order. I just don't want to miss anything :)

oh and P.S. I am stopping by from Follow Friday!

  3. Hey! I'm your newest follower; just stopping by on the hop to wish you a great weekend!

My monthly budget seems to be on the high side of most people's answers today... Anything under $100 I find is acceptable.

  7. Glad to have found you via the Hop and FF. I'm your newest follower!

I've spent a lot less on books since I'm getting so many free from publishers. I maybe spend $100/year now, but it depends - I can't control myself when I'm in bookstores :)

  13. I can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series' story
    doesn't run chronologically.

That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child's Reacher novels) then I don't feel the need to start with book one.

On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch's Battlestar
Galactica novels) can't be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.

    Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

  16. Hi and welcom to the PNR UF etc blogosphere. I find it is impossible to stop at books. There are also movies and TV. Plus all these legends come from somewhere - when I see something I talk about it. My fam is creepy and I have been the paranormal one since I was seven. I will yak about the paranormal where ever it comes about.
