Best of 2011: Urban Fantasy

Top 10: A Week of Looking Back….
………and Looking Forward.
Welcome to the Top 10 of 2011, hosted by Confessions of a Bookaholic, A Life Bound by Books, fiktshun,Two Chicks on Books. I am very excited to participate in this weeklong event to share my Best Books of 2011! And may I say there were a lot of favorites in 2011 this year, so this list was not easy. But I have decided to split my list between YA and Adult books in separate posts. I posted my YA Top 10 list earlier this morning. You can look at it here

If I had to use one word to describe Shadowfever I would have to say EPIC. This series is all in a epic category of it's own. I can honestly say that it was worth the wait, all the speculating and predicting from the hell-ish cliffhanger in Dreamfever was well worth it. Shadowfever captivated me in a way no book has ever done so before.

It is sad for a series to come to an end. I want more. I enjoyed Mac's journey and will forever love this series. I loved every single one of these characters and YES! There is a spin-off series and I Am dying to read it, but it won't be out for a while. I am in love with Moning's writing and I crave for more.

The fifth book in the Kate Daniels Series, Magic Slays is just as AMAZING as all the rest. Ilona Andrews is one of my all-time favorite authors and I am so amazed at how with each book in the Kate Daniels series I grow closer and closer to these characters that I have so much emotion welled up in me. Yes. I cried like a big baby. That is how great and close you come to love these characters. You think of them as real and you adore each and everyone of them.

MAGIC SLAYS does not disappoint. Look forward to having your butt glued to your seat(like Curran glued Kate's butt to her chair in MAGIC STRIKES LOL) all day while enjoying yet another astounding book in the Kate Daniels Series.

An adult Urban Fantasy novel about Greek Gods? I have been waiting forever to pick up a book like this. And trust me when your read the first chapter of this book you will be hooked in a way you never thought possible.

I admit that this book is a bit darker than what I am used too, but I loved it all the same. I am completely new to author Jenna Black, and I like what I see. This is a definite read for urban fantasy readers.

Oh, Chloe Neill, you might as well have just staked me. Hard Bitten will leave you speechless, breathless and possibly leave you full of many many emotions. I loved it and hated it at the same time. And you will get my meaning when you flip to the last page of this book.

I must say that I am looking forward, scratch that I would just die to get my hands on that book, and find out where the evil Chloe Neill lives. hahaha.

I went into THE SHADOW READER not really knowing what to expect and came out blown away by the this incredible fae story. This was a really a intriguing world to be thrown into and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Aren is every woman's wet dream. And he is the real reason I loved this book! Haha. THE SHADOW READER actually turned out to be quite a exciting and thrilling read. I am really looking forward to see where this story goes in the sequel.

BLACK NIGHT is even more hot and action-packed as the previous book Black Wings. I could not for the life of me put the book down, and I feel it has improved greatly from the issues I had with Black Wings with it reading like a YA book.

Madeline kicks butt as usual and she is becoming more and more of a bad ass, just the way I like my heroines. As usual there was a great ending just like in the first book. BLACK NIGHT exceeded my expectations and surprised my quite a bit. I will be definitely picking up the third in the Madeline Black Series, Black Howl.

SHADOWFLAME succeeds the previous QUEEN OF SHADOWS in so many ways and you are left wondering if it is even possible to turn the pages fast enough. Dianne Sylvan has truly created a vampire world that I want to be apart of for years to come.

SHADOWFLAME was an phenomenal book from beginning to end. When you reach that last page you will wish that you hadn't because the wait for the third book in this amazing vampire series will be that more painful.

KINDLING THE MOON surprised the hell out of me. I honestly didn't really know what to expect, but for one thing I did not expect to immediately fall in love with the pure brilliance of it. This was an excellent start to a series and what a surprising ending that was.

I loved the plot one hundred percent. I loved by reading the synopsis that I still had no idea what this book was about. Look forward to demons and magic users on a whole new level. You will be wicked surprised when you open this book and the ending will shock you out of your socks. I really am looking forward for what is in store for Cady next.

GRAVE DANCE was an exciting and thrilling read and when it ended I threw a fit because I didn't want this book to end. GRAVE DANCE exceeded my expectations on so many levels.

There was a mixture of fae and witch stuff that blew me away and I really want to know more and more about the fae. Everything in this book just "WOW-ed" me and why oh, why doesn't the next book come out 6 months from now instead of a year. I will die before I get my hands on the next Alex Craft book.

ONE GRAVE AT A TIME was everything and more after my slight disappointment with the last book. I think I didn't realize how much I actually missed Cat and Bones until I started reading this book and then my love came back blasting in at full speed. Cat and Bones are back again this time are trying to capture a bad guy who is already dead and the question that arises is how are you suppose to kill someone that is already dead.

Was this my favorite Night Huntress book? No, but I loved it just as much as the other books. Pick up this book Night Huntress fans, you will love
ONE GRAVE AT A TIME and if you haven't picked them up yet then what the hell are you waiting for?
