Review: Fragile Eternity by Melissa Marr

Title: Fragile Eternity
Author: Melissa Marr
Series: Wicked Lovely, #3
Publisher: HarperTeen
Release Date: April 21, 2009
Pages: 389
Rating:

Seth never expected he would want to settle down with anyone—but that was before Aislinn. She is everything he'd ever dreamed of, and he wants to be with her forever. Forever takes on new meaning, though, when your girlfriend is an immortal faery queen.

Aislinn never expected to rule the very creatures who'd always terrified her—but that was before Keenan. He stole her mortality to make her a monarch, and now she faces challenges and enticements beyond any she'd ever imagined.

In Melissa Marr's third mesmerizing tale of Faerie, Seth and Aislinn struggle to stay true to themselves and each other in a milieu of shadowy rules and shifting allegiances, where old friends become new enemies and one wrong move could plunge the Earth into chaos.

More Ashlinn, Seth, and Keenan. Who could ask for me than this. I was really excited to start FRAGILE ETERNITY and continue with these characters story. The story picks up right after what has happened in Wicked Lovely. Ashlinn is still adjusting to being summer queen. Seth is is dealing with Ashlinn being summer queen and also Keenan is having some problems with Donia. This book was not as exciting as Wicked Lovely, but it was still a great read.

I love that we get all the characters point of view. It makes me to connect to each character in a way and see things from their point of view, which I love. I love all of these characters and you really end up having a place in your heart for each one of them, even the new characters. In Wicked Lovely I really didn't connect much with Ashlinn's love interest, Seth, but after FRAGILE ETERNITY I have this new kind of respect for him. I think since the beginning he has grown as a character, but Keenan is still my number 1.

Ashlinn, Keenan, and Donia are all having issues concerning one another and go through hurt and heartbreak throughout this book and it just makes you wonder about the relationship between these characters. I think that Donia/Keenan and Ashlinn/Keenan are great couples, but sometimes I get the feeling that Keenan would make a great love interest for both of them. I want Ashlinn and Keenan to be together though. I think that this book was so different from the last two books, because it seemed more mature. I mean it is kind of hard to explain, but I felt like the characters have all grown into respectable people and there are these problems they face, and when reading it, it didn't seem like young adult.

Things happen at the end that make you want to know what happens now? We won't really know until the last book, Darkest Mercy seeing that is the next book with the focus on Donia, Keenan, Seth, and Ashlinn, but I am looking forward to read the next companion novel, sequel to Ink Exchange. Side characters are very interesting and it is great to get inside their head.

Review: Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr

Title: Ink Exchange
Author: Melissa Marr
Series: Wicked Lovely, #2

To 17-year-old Leslie, the tattoo is a thing of indescribable beauty, a captivating mark that she must make her own. But this subtle web of eyes and wings brings with it a transformation that no sweet young girl would ever imagine or welcome. Like its predecessor, this stand-alone sequel to Wicked Lovely plunges its youthful heroine into a faery world of almost constant peril. A tantalizing urban fantasy that won't let go.

INK EXCHANGE is very different from Wicked Lovely. It is much darker. Instead of Ash, Keenan, and Seth, this book focuses on the side characters from Wicked Lovely, Niall, Leslie, and Irial. I do admit I was hesitant to read INK EXCHANGE, because I knew that it did not focus on the main characters from Wicked Lovely. But Ink Exchange is a companion novel, where we get to see what is actually going on between the different courts. We don't just have the Summer and Winter Court, we also have the Dark Court.

In Wicked Lovely we were introduced to Leslie as Ashlinn's friend. Leslie has had a very rough life since her mother had died and at home it is really bad for her and she is drawn to the darkness. Leslie decides to get a tattoo and the tattoo that she is drawn too and immediately wants to get is the tattoo that will link her soul to the dark king, Irial. Niall cares for Lesley and tries all he can to keep her safe from Irial.

For some reason, I really thought that I was not going to like INK EXCHANGE for the fact that it focuses on the side characters, but it really wasn't that bad. It was an interesting and engaging read. I really liked that we get an inside look at the other courts and different players in the world. I wasn't as into the main characters as much as the ones in Wicked Lovely.

I sympathized with Leslie, because of what she has to come home to everyday. I felt like she got to be a stronger person by the end of the book. I admit that I love Niall and Irial. Irial is so dark and he is such a bad boy and mysterious in a way. We get to see a different side of Niall. I mean he turns into a different person by the end. And things between Niall and the Summer king and queen may never be the same again.

I liked this book, but I was not into it as much as Wicked Lovely, because I liked the focus on Ashlinn, Seth and Keenan and that storyline. I find those characters more interesting to me. But it was just nice to see what was going on in the other courts. But book 3, Fragile Eternity will be back on the Ashlinn, Seth and Kennan storyline, so I am very excited to find out what will happen in that book.

Review: Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

Title: Wicked Lovely
Author: Melissa Marr
Series: Wicked Lovely, #1

All teenagers have problems, but few of them can match those of Aislinn, who has the power to see faeries. Quite understandably, she wishes that she could share her friends' obliviousness and tries hard to avoid these invisible intruders. But one faery in particular refuses to leave her alone. Keenan the Summer King is convinced beyond all reasoning that Aislinn is the queen he has been seeking for nine centuries. What's a 21st-century girl to do when she's stalked by a suitor nobody else can see? A debut fantasy romance for the ages; superlative summer read.

WICKED LOVELY was my first introduction into faeries and I loved every second of this book. I could not put it down. It is so engaging and best of all we get not just one characters point of view. In WICKED LOVELY, we meet 17 year old Aislinn who can see faeries, but these faeries are very bad. But she must not let the faeries know that she can see them. Rule #1: Don't stare at invisible faeries. Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries. And most important, Rule #3: Don't attract their attention.

Aislinn has made the biggest mistake of all and attracted the attention of one of the most powerful and strikingly beautiful faeries of them all, Keenan. Ashlinn just can't seem to get rid of him. Keenan is the summer king and wants Aislinn as his queen. But Aislinn is in love with Seth. Keenan will not give up and will not stop until Aislinn becomes his queen. What is Aislinn to do.

When I picked up this book, I really did not expect to like it as much as I did. I was very surprised. When I told myself I'll stop at the next chapter so I can go to bed, it never happened. I couldn't stop reading until I reached the very last page and that rarely happens. Melissa Marr has created a fantastic world where readers would love to be apart of. After finishing Wicked Lovely I wanted to search and search for every faerie book I could find. I thank you, Melissa Marr for creating such a great book in the world of faeries.

Aislinn was a weird character for me at first. She seems very tense all of the time, but I would guess so, because all of her life she has been surrounded by faeries and has been a bit scared of them. I think she really steps up as a character and tries to make everyone happy. She is an caring character. We also have Keenan and Seth, the lover interests. I have to say I loved Keenan and I am a huge fan.

I found that Keenan was charming, fun, flirty, and is the kind of guy that I would want. He just makes you smile and is very straight forward. He will do anything to get Aislinn. To me Seth was a bit o a bore so I did not like him really. Seth just seemed more of a friend than a love interest and Keenan brings out the spirit in Ashlinn's soul more. I really do hope that Aislinn ends up with Keenan in the end. Seth was just a boring person in general to me. I did not feel the appeal to the character.

We have one more character worth mentioning, Donia. She is the winter girl. And all winter girls have the task in warning the girls Keenan picks as queen not to tryst Keenan. I really liked Donia. I have grown to love her and she has suffered a great deal from all of the summer queen drama and I hope that she gets her happily ever after when this series is over.

I thought that the book had a great ending and I am really looking forward to the second book in the Wicked Lovely Series. Melissa Marr is a must-read for any young adult fan. WICKED LOVELY is one of those book that you wonder why the hell you haven't picked up this book before, because you have been missing out big time. So, yes. I have spoken. This book is amazing.
