Mystified Couples Presents: Clary and Jace

Welcome to Mystified Couple of the Month. This month I am honored to introduce the couple:
Clary and Jace

CLARY FRAY
Clary finds out she is a Shadowhunter and quite a few things happen to her. She then enters the Shadowhunter fold, using her newly revealed mystical abilities to assist the group while attempting to find her mother while she also finds a new love: Jace Wayland. Clary is incredibly stubborn and determined, much like her parents, but then again what heroine isn't. I honestly didn't know how I felt about Clary at the beginning of the series. I mean I wasn't really attracted to her as far as other heroines go, but I think by the end of the series she really grew on me. I enjoyed her strengthens by the end after finding out who she was as a person.

"You guessed? You must have been pretty sure, considering you could have killed me."
"I was ninety percent sure."
"I see," Clary said. There must have been something in her voice, because he turned to look at her. Her hand cracked across his face, a slap that rocked him back on his heels. He put his hands on his cheek, more in surprise than pain.
"What the hell was that for?"
"The other ten percent."

JACE WAYLAND
Jace is a Shadowhunter living at the New York Institute with his adopted family. Not just for Clary, but quite a few things turns Jace's world upside down when he meets Clary. He and Clary fall in love in City of Bones, but after they find out they are siblings there are awkward situations through the next two books, what with Clary's headstrong refusal to be left out of conflicts, and both's attempts to get over each other by going out with other people. One thing I loved was Jace's personality. I mean who wouldn't. The guy is hilarious. I think I have like too many favorite quotes in like every book, because of Jace. He is so funny. I mean all of the characters in The Mortal Instruments are, but god. I love Jace!

"Have you fallen in love with the wrong person yet?'
Jace said, "Unfortunately, Lady of the Haven, my one true love remains myself."
..."At least," she said, "you don't have to worry about rejection, Jace Wayland."
"Not necessarily. I turn myself down occasionally, just to keep it interesting."

THE COUPLE
It's not a surprise I have loved Jace and Clary since the beginning, and I think what I loved the most was the development of their relationship. Everyone knows that after City of Bones it was revealed that Jace and Clary are brother and sister and I loved watching in the next two books them dealing with that. I wonder how different they would act around each other, but the truth was they would always see each other as the love.

There were probably so many scenes/moments I loved that I couldn't just pick one, but I really loved at the end of City of Glass where Clary got one wish she wished for Jace to come back. And Jace was like the one thing you wanted more than anything was me? Awwwww..I should probably do a re-read, because there's a lot I can't remember right now.

To be honest this couple is so sweet. Honestly I have another favorite(Magnus/Alec), I mean we have lots of couples in th is series, but I will always love Jace and Clary and I look forward to seeing what other obstacles they have to face in City of Fallen Angels in stores TODAY!

"And now I’m looking at you,” he said, “and you’re asking me if I still want you, as if I could stop loving you. As if I would want to give up the thing that makes me stronger than anything else ever has. I never dared give much of myself to anyone before – bits of myself to the Lightwoods, to Isabelle and Alec, but it took years to do it – but, Clary, since the first time I saw you, I have belonged to you completely. I still do. If you want me."

  1. Jace is definitely one of my ultimate book boyfriends. His snarky lines are some of the best ever written. I love sarcasm, so he is after my heart, big time. I have MANY favorite quotes.

"Well, I’m not kissing the mundane," said Jace. "I’d rather stay down here and rot."
"Forever?" said Simon. "Forever’s an awfully long time."
Jace raised his eyebrows. "I knew it," he said. "You want to kiss me, don’t you?"

Clary: "Is this the part where you start tearing off strips of your shirt to bind my wounds?"
Jace: "If you wanted me to rip my clothes off, you should have just asked."

"Not everything is about you," Clary said furiously.
"Possibly," Jace said, "but you do have to admit that the majority of things are."
